Natural Gas Chemicals Registry Launched

A registry for chemicals used in the extraction of natural gas through hydraulic fracturing launched on April 10, 2011.

The Ground Water Protection Council and the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission have collaborated to compile the data and are offering it at a new website: . Participating companies are posting their data on a voluntary basis with 24 drillers initially volunteering to post data to the registry. Additional companies have indicated that they will join and post data to the registry as well. The site allows users to choose the state, county, operator, and well name, and see a list of the chemicals that were used to fracture the well.
